Lake Avenue Community Foundation is committed to community transformation by building bridges between faith and human experience. The foundation is a faith-based organization committed to transforming the San Gabriel Valley by developing and supporting initiatives in the areas of housing, education, literacy, hunger relief, healthcare and economic development. We believe that through our efforts within the community, God's love for each individual will be demonstrated. We believe God desires the removal of barriers due to age, economic status and ethnicity for community transformation to succeed.
This issue of Seasons magazine gives you a glimpse into Lake Avenue Church's vital and growing efforts to bring hope and healing to people outside our church family. Our community outreach is accomplished through the staff, volunteers and partnerships forged by Lake Avenue Community Foundation, along with many other ministries and agencies.

The articles you'll be reading this month describe how Lake Avenue Community Foundation builds kingdom values and the body of Christ in our local area; from a description of a life-changing Friday night inside Juvenile Hall to an uplifting Thursday morning coffee-and-sweet-bread encounter with a day laborer along Villa Street; to an afternoon learning program that touches hearts of the students and the tutors, to a heart-wrenching but glorious day at the movies with our homeless friends.

We established Lake Avenue Community Foundation in 2001 to raise funds for our local community outreach ministries, strengthen our ministry partners, launch new initiatives and form partnerships to address unmet social needs around us. Five years ago on April 1, the Community Outreach Division of Lake Avenue Church and Lake Avenue Foundation merged to become Lake Avenue Community Foundation (LACF).

Sunday Community Meal.
*
Our Sunday evening community meal for the homeless in our neighborhood has grown to feeding and ministering nearly 200 folks each Sunday night, sharing God's word with more than 40 in English and Spanish. We have also added breakfast and lunch on Fridays at the Villa 500 Community Outreach Center to connect more folks with our parish nurse, whose services are provided by QueensCare Health and Faith Partnership.
As you can see, we have a lot of hopes and plans for LACF! Please pray for God's direction and blessings on our efforts and if you are called to join with us, please come alongside us in the exciting ministry of bringing Christ's love to our neighbors.
