This will be the fourth summer that LACF will successfully partner with TeachOverseas to bring English language classes to Northwest Pasadena. The courses run for four weeks beginning July 23 through August 15, and we are planning for more than 40 neighborhood residents to attend. Among the groups coming together to make this venture possible are: the STARS program; the City sponsored Pasadena Job Center; the Villa 500 Day-Laborer fellowship; Teachoverseas.org; and Comunidad de las Americas.

Cooperative efforts begin months in advance as arrangements are made regarding a meeting place, funding, and publicity. Two years ago, the Foundation funded a video production team to produce a 30-second television commercial. We saw a dozen volunteer actors working together with videographer and director, and as friends of LAC's David Girgis, they offered their services at substantially reduced rates. Volunteers like Amy Cardenas, a junior high student from STARS, and Juan Manuel Castillo, from the day-laborer fellowship, worked with them for nearly 14 hours.

Nos pasamos una tarde divertida e interesante disfrutando por casi dos horas de tan formidable puesta.

Shakespeare Festival/LA’s Summer Festival trae los temas clásicos de Shakespeare a la vida para Los Angeles de hoy en día. En el verano 2007, Festival/LA de Shakespeare estará presentando A Midsummer Night’s Dream, el conjunto a las vistas y sonidos de la escena temprana del jazz de Los Angeles. En este cuento, jóvenes amantes' las emociones corren salvajemente como la magia del hada que los provoca que caigan en y fuera de amor. El histórico Old town de Pasadena California es localizada apenas minutos del centro Los Angeles en el hermoso Valle de SanGabriel. Old Town Pasadena.

Historic Old Town Pasadena California is located just minutes from downtown Los Angeles in the beautiful San Gabriel Valley. Bordered by Marengo Ave. on the East and Pasadena Avenue on the West, Old Pasadena stretches from Holly Street on the North to Green Street on the South. Shown below in a photo circa 1928 and to the left as it appears today, is Colorado Boulevard. Better known as the street on which the major portion of the annual Rose Parade takes place, Colorado Boulevard has become the main strip of Old Pasadena and is packed with pedestrians and vehicles nightly. A mecca of entertainment, dining and shopping, Old Pasadena and bordering areas including South Lake Avenue have become increasingly popular as tourist attractions and night spots.
As seen here, Old Pasadena looks very much as it did seventy years ago. Many of the historic buildings have been restored and the street-front shops maintain their appeal to the hundreds who stroll the sidewalks each day. Old Pasadena abounds with night clubs, bars, over 50 restaurants serving all types of cuisine and countless specialty shops offering such items as clothing, antiques, furniture and exotic items from around the world. Weekly, one can find all genres of live music from rock, jazz and blues to classical plus dancing, comedy, and billiards. With something for everyone, it's easy to see why Old Pasadena is one of the hottest areas in Southern California.
